It is a homemade-style decorative jam pot cover set that is suitable for 1 lb pots. It is the ideal preserve accessory that turns a homemade preserve into a gift. This product contains: 12 assorted homemade style covers and labels. 12 transparent covers, 12 waxed circles and 12 rubber bands. The package also includes: Paper envelope packaging for jam pot covers, size 6.10 x 6.10 x 0.20 inches. The front has an illustration of a pot with a fruit print of strawberry jam, oranges, strawberries, plums and cherries printed in brown, crimson and orange. How to use this product to fill, seal and store jars of preserves: Filling: Most jams and chutneys should be potted as soon as the set point is reached. The exception is marmalades which can be left to cool slightly as this will stop the peel from floating to the top. Pour or ladle your preserve into warm jars “ this prevents the preserve from cooling before youve had a chance to seal it. Always fully-fill jars and seal straight away. With chutneys and other chunky preserves tap the side of the jar to remove any air pockets. Sealing: Now, you can easily seal jars of jam, jelly or marmalade with wax discs and cellophane lids from Tala. To use the wax discs and cellophane covers, place the disc wax-side down on the surface of the hot preserve. Moisten the cellophane cover with a drop of water, stretch over the jar and secure with an elastic band. The moistened side of the cellophane should be on the outside. Storing: Store preserves in a cool, dark place such as a larder, cellar, garage or shed.
